Lauren Fajardo Cárdenas
fashion designer
TXT: claudia delacroix PHOTO: Rómulo sans makeup and hair: Pavel
Trained in fashion design but with her eyes on a future in historical investigation, set design and Art direction, Lauren is in the process of defining herself this year. Recently graduated from Havana’s Design Institute, she is already exhibiting a respectable body of work in projects with her mother, the dancer and choreographer Rosario Cárdenas, with whom she has collaborated on the costumes of Verdi in Dance, and Ouroborous and Extravagant amongst other premieres. Her experimental work exhibited on the student catwalks excited considerable interest and she is still attracted by forms of clothes made from remnants, pieces of cardboard and plastic bags. The uncertainty of her direction is clear in her eyes. It is in resolving this uncertainty that she will (soon?) find her direction with her fresh talent that dresses and creates what she likes, faithful to her instinct, just hoping that we will like it.
